The Company

The history of Varian began in 1937 when brothers Russell and Sigurd Varian aimed to create a powerful source of microwaves for use in military systems. Varian was founded in 1948 in Palo Alto, California, USA, by a group of scientists with strong ties to Stanford University. Since 2020, Varian has been part of the Siemens Healthineers AG family.

Today, nearly 80 years later, the company offers embolization and chemoembolization microspheres with a hydrogel core and a durable, flexible coating (globally patented) made from the polymer Polyzene®-F.

Embozene Microspheres

Vascular embolization microspheres made from a biocompatible polymer coated with hydrogel, perfectly spherical and precisely calibrated at 40, 75, 100, 250, 400, 500, 700, 900, 1100, and 1300 μm.

Embozene TANDEM Microspheres

Vascular chemoembolization microspheres with precise calibration, preloaded in a 2 ml syringe, composed of hydrogel with a coating of inorganic biocompatible polymer, capable of drug loading up to 150 mg with a simultaneous size increase of less than 5%, and compressibility up to 30%, available in sizes of 40, 75, and 100 μm.

Advantages

  • Wide range of microspheres from 40 to 1300 μm.

  • Pre-filled syringes with a capacity of 2 ml.

  • Color coding for easy identification.

  • Up to 3 years shelf life from the date of manufacture.
