The Cardiovascular Medicine Conference “Cardio 2026”, organized by the Cardiovascular Research and Education Foundation “KARDIA” under the auspices of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, took place on 3–4 April in Athens, constituting a high-level scientific forum in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
The conference brought together distinguished scientists from the full spectrum of specialties involved in the management of cardiovascular diseases, including cardiologists, internists, general practitioners, and researchers. The main objective of the meeting was the systematic presentation of the most recent scientific evidence, the critical appraisal of current clinical guidelines, and their effective integration into everyday clinical practice.
The scientific programme was structured into highly specialized thematic sessions and included lectures, round table discussions, and interactive sessions. Particular emphasis was placed on the management of coronary artery disease, heart failure, and arterial hypertension, while extensive reference was made to the importance of primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular events.
In addition, recent advances in pharmacological therapy were presented, with emphasis on innovative treatment strategies and personalized approaches, as well as modern interventional cardiology techniques. A significant role was also attributed to the use of digital technologies and telemedicine, which are emerging as key factors in improving patient monitoring and adherence.
Particularly interesting were the sessions focused on the analysis of clinical cases and the application of clinical guidelines in real-world settings. These sessions strengthened scientific dialogue and allowed active participation of delegates, substantially bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice.
Furthermore, emphasis was placed on highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and continuing education of healthcare professionals as fundamental pillars for improving the quality of healthcare services.
Overall, “Cardio 2026” highlighted the contemporary challenges and prospects of cardiovascular medicine, confirming the decisive role of scientific knowledge, innovation, and collaboration in shaping effective prevention and treatment strategies.
